Industrial Quick Search - a valuable source for further information on industrial products, supplies and manufacturers.

Thomas Register - You'll have to register, but it's free and you'll have access to company info, products, materials, and more.

Finding an Expert

Your topic will determine where you look for an expert. Most universities have pages on their websites where you can search the faculty for experts on different topics. 

There are also many websites for journalists who need an expert source; some are free and others are not.

You can also contact the author of a journal article that you find to be helpful. If you get no response to your email inquiry, you may have better luck with a phone call.

CAD Register - brought to you by ThomasNet, it purports to be your single source for millions of component drawings.

FindLaw - search for laws, cases, codes.

First Gov - your first click to the U.S. government.

GlobalSpec - specialized search engine focusing on engineering and technical information.

Government Information Connection - hosted by University of North Texas.

MatWeb - "MatWeb's database includes thermoplastic and thermoset polymers such as ABS, nylon, polycarbonate, polyester, and polyolefins; metals such as aluminum, cobalt, copper, lead, magnesium, nickel, steel, superalloys, titanium and zinc alloys; ceramics; plus a growing list of semiconductors, fibers, and other engineering materials."
